Vienna, 09.02.2017. According to the Vienna State Opera, the soprano Anna Netrebko is honored with the title “Austrian Kammersängerin”. The appointment will take place in the tearoom of the Vienna State Opera in mid-February. Netrebko appeared for the first time in the Vienna State Opera in 2004 and celebrated great success at the house until her current appearances as Leonora in Verdi’s “Il trovatore”. She has been an Austrian citizen since 2006.
Anna Netrebko was born on 18 September 1971 in Krasnodar in the former USSR. She studied singing in Saint Petersburg and received her first engagement there in 1994 at the Mariinski Theater. After a guest performance of the theater in San Francisco, which was received very positively by the critics, her career began on the world-wide opera stages. Her stations included the Metropolitan Opera New York, the Vienna State Opera and the Opéra National in Paris, as well as the Salzburg Festival, where she made her breakthrough in 2002 as Donna Anna in Mozart’s “Don Giovanni”.
